STATEMENT

by the Democratic Forces of Armenia

We, the undersigned, acting as the bearers and representatives of the national will of the Armenian people, raise our irreversible choice and position on the following:

1) The sovereignty of Armenia is an absolute value and an indisputable fact for us. We, therefore, refuse to join the so-called Union State, a fortiori Russia, or in any other way to participate in or support the restoration of the Russian Empire, as well as deny its propagandists. We will do our best to prevent encroachments on Armenia’s sovereignty.

2) We see the future of Armenia, the modernization and reconstruction of the national state identity of the Armenian people in a family of civilized nations united under the auspices of democracy and universal values.

3) Recognizing Russia’s inability to ensure the security of Armenians in Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh, as a result of which the latter, having already suffered heavy territorial losses, continues to shrink even after the war at the expense of the territories under Russian responsibility, while Armenians living there are subjected to ethnic cleansing. We demand of Armenian authorities to address the UN Security Council for the allocation of international peacekeepers in Artsakh with a UN mandate within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

4) We condemn the continuous Russian aggression against the sovereign state of Ukraine. We treat it as a continuation of the imperialistic harassment against freedom-loving nations and states, and dictatorial regimes’ attacks against democracies, including Aliyev’s regime aggression against Artsakh in 2020, towards which the reaction of the international community was disproportionately moderate. We call on the UN to put in place effective mechanisms for the peaceful and diplomatic settlement of all international and inter-ethnic issues in line with the modern achievements of civilization and international law.
