The initiative group for the “Out of the CSTO” coalition met today with Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Security, Defense, and Internal Affairs of the National Assembly. The members of the initiative presented to the committee chairman the public mood and concerns regarding Armenia’s future membership in the CSTO. The indifferent stance of that structure towards Azerbaijan’s aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia over the past two years further deepens Armenia’s security threats.
The members of the initiative emphasized the importance of reorienting the RA security system, establishing, developing and deepening relations with new partners in security matters from the West, as well as using new opportunities that have emerged in that context. They also exchanged views on other urgent issues related to Armenia’s security problems.
